ABOUT FOREST HOME FARMS

Forest Home Farms dates back to 1850 and has a rich agricultural history. It sits on a 16-acre historic site with 21 structures. The property was owned by descendents of Daniel Boone from 1899 until 1998, when Ruth Boone willed it to the city in memory of her husband, Travis Moore Boone. After Ruth Boone's death in 1998 at the age of 94, the City expanded the memorial to include Ruth, in honor of her generosity to the people of San Ramon and in recognition of the contribution women made to agriculture in the San Ramon Valley.

Because of the partnership with the City of San Ramon and the San Ramon Historic Foundation, Forest Home Farms will become a destination place not only for local history, but also a venue for food and farm workshops, conferences, seminars, events, and festivals including Sheep Shearing Day, Kids Day, Chili Cook-off, Ice Cream Social, Pumpkin & Harvest Festival, just to name a few.

Opening this year (April 26, 2008) is the new visitor’s center with a gift shop and real accessible rest rooms.

Future plans for Forest Home Farms include a vineyard, fruit trees, a historical museum, paved parking and general site enhancements
